A LITTLE ABOUT RON
I'm Ron Haake, and Colorwave Imaging is my
baby. I'm a creative professional with over
27 years of experience in the field of
entertainment and advertising design.
Although Colorwave Imaging is a new venture
for me, it is built on the creative legacy of
my founding and running the highly successful
design studio Scene 2, which
continues to operate in San Francisco,
California.
I founded Scene 2 in the late 1980s to provide design and custom fabrication of models, props, scenery and graphics for the advertising, television and exhibit industry. I nurtured it from a vague concept into what it is today, one of the preeminent creative studios in Northern California. From a fully equipped, 11,000 sq. ft. production facility, Scene 2 designs and fabricates a vast range of custom creations, from tiny models to full scale immersive environments. Our work is featured in TV shows, commercials, magazine ads, museums and visitor centers. Take a look at Scene 2's award winning portfolio to get a sense of the scope and quality of the work.
Although I was trained in scenic design for theatre, I quickly adapted those skills to the commercial world. I learned both digital printing and photography to serve my needs at Scene 2. As a result, I've been producing graphics and printing photos since the earliest days of wide format inkjets, and have been a Photoshop and Illustrator professional since their inception. I learned retouching, as well as CAD and 3D illustration, as a part of producing renderings, presentation graphics and special effects. More than anything else, though, the fast paced, varied challenges of my previous career taught me how to learn, improvise and innovate. As a natural evolution, I'm still looking for new challenges.

MISSION STATEMENT
I began Colorwave Imaging as a way of
connecting with more personal, less
commercial artwork, in a very special place,
far away from the urban bustle of San
Francisco: Kailua Kona, on the Big Island of
Kona. The goal is to bring exciting new
capabilities to the Big Island, and to grow
and share creative work unencumbered by
corporate interests. Colorwave Imaging is a
fresh and welcome challenge in a new arena.
Carpe diem!
Aloha,
Ron
